On Saturday evening, Justin Timberlake made his much-hyped return to the stage with new material at DIRECTV’s Super Saturday Evening in New Orleans, Louisiana, however it was not with out (minor) controversy.
Just prior to he launched into a rendition of his breakup anthem “Cry Me a River,” Timberlake allegedly told a crowd that integrated the likes of Kate Upton, Hayden Panettiere, and Sofia Vergara, “Sometimes in life, you believe you discovered the . But then 1 day you discover that she is just some b**ch.”
Given that Timberlake has by no means made any try to eliminate rumors about who inspired the song (he cast a Britney lookalike in the music video, for pete’s sake), folks naturally assumed that the “b**ch” to whom Justin referred was Ms. Spears. Justin took to Twitter to say it wasn’t so, maybe simply because he knows these Britney fans do not mess about:
Timberlake & Britney Spears had been teen pop’s golden couple for a few years in the early aughts. They split up in 2002 amid rumors that she had cheated on him with choreographer Wade Robson. In 2011, Timberlake accepted that he had not talked to Spears since the breakup.
