It’s been an uphill battle for Bono and his wife Ali Hewson’s ethical clothing lineEdun. Since 2005 the socially conscious couple have tried to establish clothing factories in Africa and train workers. They hope to guide African nations raise the cotton and manufacture the finished product. Establishing factories in Africa hasn’t been easy and the clothing line lost 7.8 million last year. (Better than 2011 when they lost 8.5 million.) Maybe there aren’t enough socially conscious consumers. Big names like Louis Vuitton (see ad above) and Diesel have lent their support to the struggling company. But Bono is not giving up – he’s still determined to industrialize Africa and create jobs.
