Kangna Ranaut finally speaks up on Apurva Asrani’s accusation about stealing writing credits for Simran

Kangna Ranaut came under fire in the month of May 2017 when her upcoming film Simran’s writer Apurva Asrani wrote a very detailed post accusing Kangna of twisting her way into getting a co-writer credit in the film. The controversy did not end there as he even called out film’s director Hansal Mehta for not having a spine and standing up for what is right.

During the trailer launch of Simran on Tuesday, August 8, Kangna Ranaut revealed that Apurva Asrani was given all the dues for writing the film. She also said that the note written against her was in bad taste and extremely deliberate after her film Rangoon flopped. Kangna Ranaut said “There is a lot of misconception regarding this. I would like to clarify there are no dues pending. It has been made to look like he hasn’t been given his due, whereas we have done exactly what he asked for.”

Speaking on the credit controversy, Kangna Ranaut further added, “He suggested I take additional dialogue credits. All the documents and contracts were signed too. Post that we also worked for a schedule together. After many months, he decided to write this note when Rangoon flopped and 2-3 people attacked me, which I thought was in a very bad taste. It was planned and extremely deliberate.”

Hoping to close this topic, Kangna Ranaut lastly said, “If there is anything we can do in the matter we would love to, but there is nothing we can do. We have given him credits too. This is where we stand today.”

Directed by Hansal Mehta, Simran is set to release on September 15, 2017.
