The stage is set for the next festival movie of the season, Judwaa 2. While the last biggie to make a mark at the Box Office was Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, there have been a couple of mid-budget successes [Ayushmann Khurranna, Bareilly Ki Barfi]. However, when it comes to a big budget film making a mark across the country in A, B and C centres and that too at multiplexes as well as single screens, Bollywood has been waiting for its next big money spinner.
Well, this is now expected from Judwaa 2 for which Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox have huge plans already in place. They are pretty much setting up Judwaa 2 to be the biggest release ever for Varun Dhawan and once that happens, a record opening day number is on the cards already.
“There are so many factors already going in the film’s favour, right from the sequel factor to the recollect value to the response that the David Dhawan directed affair has received for its promo to the fact that ‘Tan Tana Tan’ as well as ‘Oonchi Hai Building’ have turned out to be chartbusters all over again to unbroken successful record that Varun Dhawan has been enjoying for years now,” informs our source, “When you have so much to leverage on, as a producer you want to go all out indeed.”
No wonder, Sajid Nadiadwala is gung-ho about the fortunes of the film and while he has been aggressive on marketing, promotion and release plans alongside Fox, he is also ensuring that the fun musical entertainer gets picture perfect pitching.
“Less than three weeks remain for the film’s release now and some goo heat has already been generated,” a trade insider adds, “Things have normalized to some extent in Bollywood with a few successes in last one month. However, there is always a need for more and a quintessential action-comedy like Judwaa 2 is the next hot favourite. This one has the potential to go much beyond the Rs. 100 crore mark and no one associated with the film would want to settle for anything lesser.”
Moreover, there are two big holidays in the form of Dusshehra [Saturday] and Gandhi Jayanti [Monday] which practically gives Judwaa 2 a four day strong weekend. Not to let go of this wonderful opportunity where audiences are expected to come in hordes, Sajid and Fox gave a plan chalked out to make Judwaa 2 the next holiday biggie.
How big will it eventually turn out? Well, hopefully real big as that would indeed set the stage for audiences to be entertained as the festive season kick-starts with the release of Judwaa 2.
