“The Final Exit is a supernatural thriller with a dash of horror” – Vishal Rana

The trailer of the upcoming film The Final Exit has managed to arouse curiosity levels among the moviegoers. Starring Kunaal Roy Kapur, Ananya Sengupta and Scarlett Wilson, the film looks like a very unconventional thriller and has left audiences wondering what exactly the film is about.

The film’s co-producer Vishal Rana is glad with the reactions to the trailer. He says, “Honestly speaking, The Final Exit is a supernatural thriller with a dash of horror. The reactions to the trailer have been great. People are not able to slot it in a genre per se. People are curious as to what exactly is happening, why this guy seems lost etc.”

This is the first film produced by Vishal Rana in Hindi. Taking up such a ‘hatke’ subject for a debut film is quite a risk. But Vishal reasons by saying, “I have produced Marathi films before. In Hindi, I have done a lot of line production work. When I decided to be a producer, I was looking forward to making a content-driven film.”

Kunaal Roy Kapur is mostly known for comic roles. His appearances in films like Delhi Belly, Nautanki Saala, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and even Azhar were more or less light-hearted and funny. In The Final Exit however, he’s in a drastically different space. Explaining the reason for signing him, Vishal Rana stated, “Kunaal Roy Kapur has always done funny roles. So the idea of getting him on board with five girls who are not that known in such kind of a film piques curiosity levels.”

One of the most interesting aspects about the trailers of The Final Exit is that certain sequences have been shot in the beautiful locales of Leh Ladakh. Shooting there wasn’t easy but Vishal Rana is happy with the end product. He shared, “Leh Ladakh is a very difficult place to shoot. When we reached there, we took a day to acclimatize. Sadly, Kunaal fell sick for around two days. That did delay the shooting of the film but not for a long time. Despite the difficulties, we achieved what we wanted from the place – the no-mans-land feeling!”

The Final Exit is directed by Dhwanil Mehta and is all set to release on September 22.
