Aamir Khan loves to do things differently – especially the marketing and promotions of his films. After releasing Dangal in China, the super star is now exploring other markets all over the world, including Singapore and Turkey. The actor kick-started the international promotions of Secret Superstar in Singapore on Monday (October 2), on Gandhi Jayanti with the media and school children there. In Secret Superstar, Khan plays the obnoxious Shakti Kumar, a flirty music director who sports tight t-shirts and motivated an aspiring singer (Zaira Wasim). In Singapore, the actor sported his Thugs Of Hindostan look. He will resume shooting for the film after Secret Superstar releases.
Aamir chose Singapore to start the tour because he’s never been here before, except in transit. He told the media there, “I wanted to go to markets I’ve never been before! And I’ve never been to Singapore promote a film,” he explained. “Usually we go to the US, the UK or the Middle East. But I was suggesting to (the production team) that I like to go places I’ve never been and try to reach out to newer audiences. So that’s why this time I’m in Singapore and next I’ll be going to Turkey!”
Aamir shared who his very own secret superstar was and why she motivates him even today. He told the children present, “My mother is my secret superstar: she shaped me as a person, whatever I am today.” The super star shared his stories about acting, movies, the film industry and his life journey till so far with the 80 young children and celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with the children at the Global Indian International School in Singapore. He met the media first and then visited various schools in Singapore.
