Did Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar Talk about Battle Of Saragarhi when they met? Here’s the inside scoop

EXCLUSIVE Did Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar TALK about BATTLE OF SARAGARHI when they met Here’s the inside scoop

It’s been a question on everybody’s lips ever since Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar announced their period film, Kesari, based on the Battle Of Saragarhi, on social media. How did Ajay Devgn feel and react? It was Ajay who had announced last year that he would direct a film on the same subject as he had been working on it for years. Here is what we came to know…

Says a source on the sets of Akshay’s reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, “As news came in on Akshay and KJo’s collaboration, Ajay’s fans started trolling Akshay. Some even wondered why Ajay was coming the next day with his Golmaal Again cast on Akshay’s reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Ajay and Akshay met and much camaraderie was exchanged. Both behaved as if nothing had happened and were seen talking in a corner. Ajay was suffering from severe back pain but despite that he came on the show
as he had made a commitment. Truth is – that Ajay and Akshay didn’t discuss Kesari AT ALL! Not one word was spoken on either of the two star’s projects. When Ajay came on the sets and went to his van, Akshay was there for a brief moment to enquire about his health and
that’s about it. Both then walked together towards the sets. For both the actors, it was a mature way of reacting to what could have been an explosive and tense situation.”

The source adds that everyone on the sets was taken aback by the cool way Akshay and Ajay were talking to each other like buddies – sometimes even huddled in a corner. “Ajay was completely relaxed and joked around and answered all of Akshay’s questions. Akshay too was very happy to see him on the show as both cracked some jokes. Fact is, Ajay today is in a contented space. He has signed some good projects and is extremely busy with them till next year. Ajay has moved on from The Battle Of Saragarhi and bears no ill will towards anybody. He understands that Akshay had his own reasons for doing the film and doesn’t blame him for doing the film. Akshay and Ajay have always shared a warm relationship. When Ajay was making Son Of Sardar he had gone to Akshay who had the title and Akki gave it away for free without a thought. The Battle Of Saragarhi was Ajay’s dream project but he has accepted that others too are making films on the same subject and he will wait and watch out for the result. Akshay and he share a cordial equation and by avoiding talk on a touchy subject completely, both stars avoided some tricky moments.”

Kesari is directed by newbie director Anurag Singh and will hit the theatres in Holi, 2019. The Battle of Saragarhi was fought on September 12, 1897 between 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikhs (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment) of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen at the North-West Frontier Province in Pakistan. The British Indian contingent, led by Havildar Ishar Singh (will be played by Akshay Kumar in Kesari), was attacked by around 10,000 Afghans and chose to fight to the death.
