Secret Superstar is one of the two big releases of Diwali despite being a bit offbeat and not-so-commercial film. It has been produced by Aamir Khan and also features him in a supporting role. With him at the helm of affairs, Secret Superstar has been talked out and is keenly awaited. What’s more, the trade even feels that it can work big time at the box office.
The screenings of Secret Superstar for media and film personalities have already begun in advance and everyone is praising the film to the skies. Many celebrities have come forward and expressed how much they loved it. But veteran actor Rekha’s message has been quite touching.
The ever reclusive and media-shy Rekha doesn’t usually talk to the media. But after exiting from Secret Superstar’s screening, she made an exception and spoke to the reporters in the presence of Aamir. She said, “I don’t know anything about awards. But today, Aamir saab has given me the greatest award. What are awards? It’s a reassurance, a dua and a pyaar ki inteha. All this has been given to me by Aamir today. When I met him for the first time, he had given it but this time, he has given it a zillion times more. It’s effect would always stay in my hearts.”
She then kept her hand lovingly on Aamir’s head and even folded her hands in front of him, which overwhelmed Aamir. She signed off by thanking Aamir and told him, “Jeete rahiye.” Her last words to the media for the day was, “I am little nervous, please forgive me and please do watch Secret Superstar.”
Secret Superstar features Zaira Wasim in leading role and is directed by Advait Chandan. It releases on Diwali day, October 18.
