Priyanka Chopra congratulates Manushi Chhillar

India was in the celebratory mood as Miss World title came back to the country after 17 years. In 2000, Priyanka Chopra was the crowned the Miss World title. Since then, India did not have a successor, until now.

On Friday night, 20-year-old Manushi Chhillar from Haryana won the coveted beauty pageant in China. Manushi was amongst the top five contestants from England, France, Kenya and Mexico. Surprised by her name, she was presented the crown by Stephanie Del Valle, last year’s Miss World winner from Puerto Rico.

Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra took to twitter to express her happiness to Manushi Chhillar, who is a medical student from Haryana. She also had a word of advice for her successor. She wrote, “And we have a successor!Congratulations @ManushiChhillar on becoming #MissWorld2017.. cherish and learn, and most importantly enjoy it.Bravo.”

An excited Manushi responded saying, “It means the #World to me! Have always looked up to you 🙂 Thank you @feminamissindia @priyankachopra.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra is shooting for the third season of her crime drama show, Quantico in New York City.
