USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…John Abraham experimented with the subject as far as his debut production Vicky Donor was concerned. 'High concept-low budget' was the call that he took and results are there to be seen with the film being a clear 'superhit' and now eyeing for an even higher box office verdict. Now John is equally confident that his next film as a producer – I, Me Aur Main – would bear similar fruits as well.

"John is a co-producer with Goldie Behl and Shrishti Arya on I, Me Aur Main and he carefully planned this project as well. Just like Vicky Donor, even I, Me Aur Main has covered all ends much before its theatrical release. Since this too is a film that boasts of high concept while being made under controlled budget, John wanted to ensure that the pricing is right. The film has already covered all its costs and would be a very safe venture when it hits theaters", informs our source.

As per trade sources, the film's cost has been recovered through pre-selling of various rights. With a non-starcast film like Vicky Donor doing triple the business of its production costs, there are much higher expectations from I, Me Aur Main since it has John in lead along with Chitrangda Singh who is expected to deliver goods.

The source continues, "As an actor who has been around for a decade, John has learnt quite a few lessons. Once he decided to turn producer, he kept all his experience in mind. Add to that his strong marketing and advertisement background and he was quick to follow the adage of 'put your money where your mouth is'."

This is the core principle he is following for his upcoming productions like Kaala Ghoda, Hamaara Bajaj and Jaffna as well where budgeting the film right and promoting it just optimally without going overboard would be key drivers.

Says John, "Unlike most actors who want to power their first films around themselves, I took rank newcomers for Vicky Donor. You have to get the casting right as well for your productions. Moreover, from the subject perspective, the entire slate of films that I am producing in the next couple of years have been handpicked by me. I am proud of all the scripts I have chosen. I am enjoying making films but that doesn't mean I would go overboard with the budget."

Though John refrains from making a direct comment around the costs involved in I, Me Aur Main and it's recovery, he does add, "Whether it is Vicky Donor, I, Me Aur Main or any of my other productions, they have to be commercially viable. There is a certain trust and confidence that the industry has shown in me. Now I have to respect their belief in me as a genuine filmmaker."
