Come Friday and Abhishek Bachchan would be seen in Manmarziyaan. The film features him as a straight faced suitor who gets married to Taapsee Pannu. As for his characterization, it is also a welcome change for him since it would be after many years that he would be seen in an intense dramatic avtar.
“One look at his last few films and you would realize that each of those has humor as a central element. Sajid Khan’s Housefull 3 had him play a goofball character and he was clearly having loads of dun. In Happy New Year too, he was a zany character as he got into the world created by Farah Khan. Moreover, he played a double role no less. Ditto in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan where he played a double role too and scored a 100 crore success. He was gathering quite a few successes under his belt and though he could have continued with more comedies, he decided to take a break,” informs our source.
Though his last release All Is Well, again a light hearted affair, didn’t work at the Box Office, in Dhoom 3, he again brought his deadpan humour come into play, though the film did turn out to be an Aamir Khan show.
With a setting like this, one expects fireworks on display.
“It would be interesting to see how Abhishek has been directed by Anurag Kashyap in the film. This is the first time that the duo is coming together. Anurag has his own unique style of directing and Abhishek has been around too for close to a couple of decades now. Moreover, the film is backed by Aanand L. Rai and one can well expect his creative contribution as well. This is indeed a very exciting set up and with Abhishek choosing Manmarziyaan to be his comeback to the big screen after a break of a couple of years, one does carry quite a few expectations,” says a film enthusiast.
Well, it would be time to see how these expectations have been fulfilled once Manmarziyaan hits the screens this Friday.
