Anushka Sharma’s stunned one and all with her fashion statement when she recently stepped out wearing a green Chanderi silk saree during the promotions of her much awaited film Sui Dhaaga – Made in India that releases this Friday. Anushka has been championing the cause of indigenous Handloom industry throughout the promotions of her film as she constructed incredible looks for herself every single time she stepped outside.
The green Chanderi saree that she wore while receiving the Smita Patil Award, however, has become a rage online with everyone giving her a huge thumbs up for choosing this as a statement outfit of the day. Anushka had bought this saree while shooting Sui Dhaaga in Chanderi and we got to speak to the person from whom Anushka had bought several sarees for herself.
“Anushka was extremely supportive of our Handloom and skill. She bought 35 sarees from us while she was shooting her film and also spoke to us at length to understand how we are trying to survive and take our sarees to the world. She had told us that she would promote Sui Dhaaga wearing our sarees and we were very happy to see her wear our creation. Anushka has made Chanderi famous and we are extremely happy about that. Someone of her stature wearing our sarees and promoting our skill gets us the attention that we need to build our business and show the world how good our Handloom is. We are indebted to her. She looks incredible wearing Chanderi sarees,” says Mohd Saiful Islam, who is one of the locals who sold Anushka sarees in Chanderi.
