USA: Free $30 Oye! Though the film has taken a year and a half to reach the finishing line, insiders assure that the wait would be worth it.

"See, there are two kinds of films that can be made. First is when a film is wrapped up so fast that everyone is happy ki chalo khatam ho gayi, ab jaldi se release karte hain. And then there is a film like Joker where you know that the subject and genre by itself is so intricate that it would take time to put it all together. Yes, of course it can all get very tiring for some but then the results speak for such films because a long wait results in something unseen and unheard of", says Shirish who has put together an eclectic mix of aliens (whether they are real or fake is yet to be seen) in the film.

It was this promise of seeing something unusual on screen that was enough for Akshay to come on board when told about the film first over a couple of years back.

"When people want to work with you again and again, you do feel that there is something right that you are doing", smiles Shirish, "Akshay and I collaborated first on Jaan-E-Mann and that led to the comfort feel when I started work on Joker. Sajid Nadiadwala had produced Jaan-E-Mann and it featured Salman Khan as well. Now I would be working with both again in Kick. In fact Salman himself suggested my name for Kick. When your colleagues show such trust in you, there is obviously good gain in confidence."

Meanwhile one can't conclude the conversation without asking Shirish about his better half, Farah Khan. Since the film is their home production, what has been her creative contribution to the film?

"She has only choreographed the songs", immediately says Shirish, "Other than that there is no overlap. See, both of us have a very different style of filmmaking. Even when she directs, I may only aid in the background score or editing. Other than that I don't ever go to the sets of her films when she is directing or acting. That was the case in both Tees Maar Khan and Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi. Similarly for Joker, I didn't ask her to come to the sets. We both have that understanding and are comfortable in our own space."

While Farah already has enjoyed a film release in the form of Shirin Farhad…., now it's time for Shirish to start counting in reverse for the arrival of Joker which hits the screens next Friday.
