Jiah Khan, the high-spirited Bollywood actress aka Nafeesa Khan, 25, has committed suicide by hanging herself at Sagar Sangeet apartment, her Juhu residence, Mumbai in India.
Jiah Khan who made her acting debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma’s controversial movie, ‘Nishabd’ is no more alive as reportedly, she had taken her own life for unknown reasons and also shocked the Bollywood with her untimely death.
According to the police, Jiah Khan’s maid, watchman and neighbors are being interrogated to find out her last visitors. Police said that the incident happened at about 11pm and there was no suicide note found.
Jiah Khan was a British-Indian and was brought up in England. She shifted to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood and reached height of success with in short span of time with her debut ‘Nishabd’ for which she was nominated for Filmfare Best Female Debut Award 2007.
Jiah Khan also appeared with Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajini’ (2008) and with Akshay Kumar in comedy film ‘Housefull’ in 2010.
Sources close to Jiah Khan said, “She had been depressed for some time due to personal issues, but was keen on returning to acting soon. She was also meeting filmmakers regarding projects”.
Tanuj Garg of Balaji telefilms and one of Jiah’s friend said, “We knew each other socially and often discussed our London connection. She was a soft-spoken, sweet and a pleasant individual. Truly shocked at the news!”
The last tweet of Jiah Khan was “So sorry I have been off twitter! Took a bit of a break from twitter verse.. Sometimes u need a sabbatical to recollect ur thoughts.”
Jiah Khan’s body has been sent to Cooper Hospital, Mumbai for post-mortem.
