Zohra SehgalZohra Sehgal the “laadli” of entertainment and the doyenne of Indian theatre is a Muslim born Indian actress of Indian cinema. A woman with jolly and fun loving nature has passed away yesterday. The old lady has met her soul at the age of 102. Her full name was Sahibzadi Zohra Begum Mumtaz-ullah Khan. She was born in a Sunni Muslim Pathan family in UP on 27th April, 1912.  Zohra died of a cardiac arrest and was not feeling well for quite some time.

Zohra started her acting career before the partition of British India. She visited Pakistan many times and also worked in multiple dramas of Ajoka Theater, Lahore. Her sister Uzra Butt also worked for theater and passed at the age of 93 in Lahore. 

In 1946 she played a lead role in her first film “Dharti Ke Lal”.  She starred in more than 41 films and 10 drama serials. She was embraced with Padma Shri and Padma Vibhshan award in 2010. Inspite of the fact that this amazingly talented actress has contributed almost 7 decades in Hindi Cinema and had not achieved Life Time Achievement Award in her life. The lady last appeared in Sanjhy Leela Bansali “Saawariya” in 2007.
