Akshay Kumar

Achhe din aa gaye hain and it is all happening between Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar currently. If Salman Khan started the year with Jai Ho, Akshay followed it up with Holiday. Now that Kick is doing phenomenal business all over, a week from now Entertainment would be another biggie to hit the screens. Over to the man of the moment, Akshay Kumar.

Akshay, it has been a solid beginning for you in 2014 with a very good success in Holiday. I know you never count your eggs before they hatch, but for this film in particular, everyone saw it coming, isn't it?
Thank you (smiles). I think everyone's positivity towards this film rubbed off on us all. From Day One my director A.R. Murugadoss used to come and say to me, "Don't worry Akshay, this is a very good film!!" and I never doubted him for a second. My shy, silent confidence in this script came through in every single dialogue during the entire narrative of this film. I wanted to make it with so much conviction, as I meant every word. Every stroke of action came from a place inside that wanted to tell this story to so many. I broke quite a few of my bones but it was all worth it.

And then a dog tired you out with all the running around in Entertainment! They say, 'It is a dog's world out there'. Is it truly the case in the film too?
It most certainly is. An actor kind of always wants to leave some kind of impression on audience who see his films. It could be a life lesson, or an inspiration, or just a positive message. But in this case, I truly believe Entertainment is going to leave an imprint on everyone's heart, well literally. I can already imagine kids tugging on their father's arm as they leave the theatres and say – "Daddy, can we adopt a Dog?" This film will change lives in so many households, and for the better!

The film has Tamannaah Bhatia as the leading lady opposite you. She is someone who does show a spark as a Bollywood heroine, though being a regular in South films. How does your 'jodi' work out in the film?
This little lady has a charismatic confident spark that's going to woo audiences across India for sure. She was absolutely the perfect family heroine for this film. She has an innocent warmth about her that is very endearing on screen; a jodi very well matched I must say. Having said that, I have a feeling that everyone will be more in love with the dogs than with us, it's still a chance that I am more than happy to accept (smiles). I won't blame anyone though; these talented canines are really adorable. Together, we have one hell of a treat in store for everyone (smiles).
