Anupam Kher refuses movie promotion on his show

And Anupam who is determined to stay far removed from the madding crowd of me-too talk shows, has chanced upon an ingenious way to make his talk-show different from the rest.

There will no stars and filmmakers on his talk-show to promote their films.

Apparently, Anupam Kher made it crystal-clear to the channel Colors that he wouldn't allow his talk-show to be used as a platform to promote his colleagues' upcoming films.

Says the actor, "My talk-show show is sub-titled 'Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai'. Lekin mere show mein promotion nahin ho sakta. I was very clear on that when I agreed to do a talk show for Colors. If I had the usual guests who are seen in all the talk shows and reality shows when their film is on release, coming on my show to do a bit of the same then what would be the point of just another talk show? So no film promotion on my show, please."

Happily the channel and Anupam were on the same page regarding this issue.

Says Anupam, "There is no pressure from the channel to promote films. If that was required I wouldn't have done the show. I just want actors to come on the show to talk about their lives. Not to promote their films."

Adds Kher, "Even at the end of every episode I don't give my guests consumer gifts sponsored by various manufacturers. I give every guest a scroll in which I pen my personal thoughts on them. My show doesn't look at stars as merchandise. I want to see the human being under the celebrity mask."
