USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…On Thursday, Ram Gopal Varma set the twitterverse buzzing with his sacrilegious tweets against one of the most adored Indian gods, Ganesh. Following his posts that obviously went down the wrong way, a police case was registered on Sunday against the filmmaker, by lawyer Karuna Sagar, at the Saroornagar police station in Cyberabad.

Following the case, the filmmaker was booked under sections 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 298 (hurting religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code. Further in his complaint, Sagar alleges that Ram Gopal Varma has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by insulting Lord Ganesh through his series of tweets.

Apart from this complaint several other police complaints were filed against Varma in Mumbai, despite the filmmaker attempting an apology in his usual statistic way saying, "All tweets I put on Ganesha were in my usual manner but unintended by me to hurt anyone's sentiments… but if they did I sincerely apologise."
