It is a known fact that a few weeks back, Hrithik Roshan was in for a surprise when a Mumbai autowallah failed to recognize him. Well, this isn't a first in his tryst with anonymity, what with a visit to Greece for the shoot of Bang Bang! Making him realize that there were many more Greek Gods out there than he could well have imagined!
"I thought mujhe toh yahan koyi pehchaanta bhi nahi hai, and back in India they call me this Greek God. Sab hi log itne handsome they wahan," chuckles Hrithik, "Of course it was nice to walk around those famous streets of Greece without being mobbed."
What really bowled him over was the hospitality that he enjoyed even as a common tourist.
Narrates Hrithik Roshan, "Locals didn't know me there and they were treating everyone equally, be it me or other foreign nationals. I particularly remember this man who was selling ice cream. He had his house at the back where he prepared them and then sold them in an extension that doubled as a shop. I was just walking past by when he invited me over to taste the ice cream. When I told him I wasn't carrying any money on me, he told me 'Don't worry, still have it'.
"Of course it was the yummiest ice cream I would have had but what impressed me most was the simplicity of this guy. All he wanted was that guests in his country relish what he had to offer. He wasn't there for the gains. There is so much to learn here," adds Hrithik with a smile.
As for the auto incident, he still can't forget it.
"Jab auto ruka toh maine auto driver ki aankhon nein aankhen daal kar paise diye. Phir thodi tip bhi di. Choti moti baat kari. Socha, ab pehchanega ki Hrithik Roshan hai. Par naah, the guy just didn't react. Lesson learnt ki yaar, there are still people out there who do not know you; better work harder," Hrithik Roshan breaks into laughter before signing off.
