According to producer Pooja Bhatt, Arjun dropped out of the film due to remuneration issues. Ali Fazal, who has become a favourite of the Bhatts after Khamoshiyan, will now step into Rampal's shoes for Soni Razdan's directorial Love Affair.

Elaborating on Arjun Rampal's exit, Pooja Bhatt clearly mentioned that the remuneration demanded by the actor was way beyond her budget and hence she changed her decision. Moreover, we hear that, Ali got an offer for the film, just four days prior and the actor decided to sign on the dotted line almost immediately. Ali Fazal, who was impressed with the script, was all praises for it.

Love Affair, which is a fictional portrayal of the infamous Nanavati case, will see Ali playing a suave and charming man who is murdered after he is caught red-handed by his best friend (Navy officer K M Nanavati) while having an affair with his wife (English born Sylvia Nanavati). Apart from him, Kalki Koechlin and Gulshan Devaiah have been roped in to play the role of husband and wife. On the other hand, Chandan Roy Sanyal plays a character similar to Ram Jethmalani who was the prosecutor during the trial of this case in the late 1950s.
