USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Its television time once again for Anurag Basu. The director of path-breaking films like Gangster and Barfi is all set to return to his roots.

Anurag had started his career on television directing several episodes of Tara in 1993. He also directed a large number of episodes of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Tthi before branching out into filmmaking.

But now Anurag has gone back to television with a brand new adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore's Chokher Bali.

Designed for television, the film has turned out so well that it's now being considered for the large screen

Says the film's leading lady, Radhika Apte, "It's been made for the Epic channel. When Anurag Basu offered me the role I just wanted to do it. I didn't care which medium it was for. Anurag is a director for whom I'd do two shots in a short-film. And what a mind blowing script. But now that the film is complete we all feel it should show in the movie theatres. It is exquisite."

Moves are afoot to convert the telefilm into a feature film.

Chokher Bali may well be Anurag Basu's next theatrical release ahead of the long-delayed Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos.

There have been several interpretations of Chokher Bali on screen, the last being the late Rituparno Ghosh's large-screen adaptation featuring Aishwarya Rai.
