Shooting a movie is not a child's play. It requires a hell lot of patience, planning and dedication on the part of the entire team to put together a structure that entertains or makes people think. We started off for the day from our hotel at 5 am in the morning for the on location of One Night Stand; empty wet roads, darkness encapsulating the sleepy Phuket and my eager eyes soaking in all the details. Pullman's Resort is besotted with greenery and the stunning Nai Thon sea beach forces you into a hey-you-can't-blink-your-eyes mode. Breakfast at 6 am with the entire unit was a sumptuous one. The assistant directors were busy belting out instructions to the online production team from Thailand about the specific requirements for the junior artistes. The air was buzzing with business and excitement.
Rain featured in a prominent role during the entire course of the day. "It has rained in all our schedules so far. I consider it as a blessing from God," director Jasmine D'souza said. The funny part is that it starts pouring in a sudden gush and you could be drenched before you reach for a safer zone. I was especially impressed with the hard working light men who covered the big lights with cutters as soon as it started raining to ensure that the shoot isn't affected in spite of strong winds and tough conditions.
It was the first day of shoot for Sunny Leone. She looked gorgeous in a delightful green number designed by her favourite stylist Hitesh Kapopara. "I really hope Hitesh touches dizzy heights of success for he deserves the best," Sunny said. She was in a chirpy mood and talked about One Night Stand, her other forthcoming movies and her knowledge about the current affairs in India is impressive. Somehow she's getting younger and fitter by the day. Each time I meet her she looks more beautiful than before. What's consistent is her simplicity and down-to-earth-demeanor. Her professionalism is exemplary. She quietly waited when other scenes were being shot and when her portions were being canned she patiently gave as many retakes that Jasmine needed from her.
Jasmine seems clear about what she wants and pushes her actors to give something extra. Her total focus and attention-to-details is noteworthy. She still manages to chill and keeps everyone relaxed. There was a crucial scene of Tanuj Virwani with his three friends Ameer Ahmad, Kapil Punjabi and Narendra Jaitley that was shot today. Another scene involved Tanuj flirting around with Sunny Leone. With the amount of angles that were needed to can this shot and if you were present here, it will convince you that 'flirting' need not be fun at all occasions.
Tanuj is an extremely well brought up and courteous guy who has a hunger to push himself as an actor.
"We are actors. We are often put in situations where we have to perform accordingly. I try not differentiate between any scenes that I do. I just go with the flow, be true to yourself," he said when asked about the prospective 'one night stand' lovemaking scene that he has to shoot with Sunny here in Phuket.
As the last few shots were being canned, I sipped another cup of black coffee and gazed at the mesmerizingly beatific green sea. Fresh air wafted along dreamily. A heady concoction! A very hectic day 2 pulls down the shutters.
