Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…We had just reported that Kumar Mangat had shelled out a whopping Rs. 40 cr to acquire the distribution rights of the Akshay Kumar starrer Rustom. Now we hear that Mangat has also acquired the all India theatrical distribution rights of the Tony D'Souza directed Azhar. In fact, Mangat has shelled out a stunning Rs. 22.5 cr for the film which is based on the story of ex-Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

As for the film, Azhar which chronicles the life and times of the former Indian cricket Captain from his international cricketing successes to his more controversial detours is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Pictures. Slated to release on May 13, 2016 Azhar, directed by Tony D'Souza, also stars Nargis Fakhri as the cricketer's second wife and former actress Sangeeta Bijlani along with others like Lara Dutta and Gautam Gulati.
