Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Earlier we had reported about the series of tweets Rishi Kapoor had posted over the several infrastructural constructions being named after Nehru and the Gandhi family. The tweets further stirred a controversy as Congress supporters came out in defence and lashed out on the celebrity. Their way of retaliation also included a recent naming ceremony of Sulab Shochalay (public toilet) in Allahabad which has now been named after Rishi Kapoor. Unaffected by the same, Rishi Kapoor is, in fact thrilled about it.
Rishi Kapoor reacted to the same and stated that he takes pride in the fact that his name is used for a public toilet which is a part of our honourable Prime Minister's most important project. He also mentioned that while he now feels useful to someone, there are some people (directing it towards Congress supporters) who aren't really useful to anyone. He further also revealed that the political party supporters seem to have misinterpreted his tweets.
For the uninitiated, Rishi Kapoor had posted several tweets on May 17 over the fact that while many of the infrastructure facilities in the country is named after the Nehru and Gandhi family, others from all fields of work including the film industry who have contributed to the well-being of the country should be provided with the same honour. This did not go down well with the NCP supporters who even allegedly protested outside the actor's residence in suburban Mumbai.
Rishi Kapoor also maintained that his intention wasn't to insult or demean the Gandhi family but only to bring this matter to everyone's notice as a citizen of India.
