USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Based on a few real life incidents, the upcoming film Shorgul starring Jimmy Sheirgill, Sanjay Suri, Ashutosh Rana has been caught up in the midst of a controversy. Reportedly, the film has been banned in Muzzafarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, since the film is allegedly based on 2013 Muzzafarnagar riots.

Recent reports suggest that an FIR filed by UP politician Sangeet Som alleged that the character played by Jimmy Sheirgill resembles the characteristics of him, an accused in the riot. However, co-producer of the film Vyas Verma maintained that the film is not based any particular incident but a combination of varied real life incidents with Uttar Pradesh as the backdrop. Expressing his regret over the recent ban of the film in Muzzafarnagar, he also added that he wants to question the authority over this decision.
Directed by Jitendra Tiwari and P.Singh, Shorgul is slated to release on July 15.
