After Chitrangda Singh's unceremonious walk-out of Kushan Nandy's Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, there was an interlude of prolonged tension as the film in question was left without a heroine.

The crisis has now been solved. Bengali actress Bidita Bag has been roped in to replace Chitrangda Singh.

Bidita who has acted in 11 films in 4 languages (Bengali, Hindi, Oriya and Assamese) is described by the Babumoshai Bandookbaaz team as "a younger version of Chitrangda, and just as talented". She was last seen in the experimental segmented Hindi film X where she was cast opposite Rajat Kapoor in one of the episodes.

Says director Kushan Nandy, "We wanted someone who would fit in to the plot effortlessly after the earlier heroine's departure. Bidita immediately gave us the dates we required. Moreover she is perfect for the part."
