Salman Khan is not a Shah Rukh Khan fan in Sultan

Contrary to the reports floating around Salman Khan doesn't play a Shah Rukh Khan fan in Sultan. The rumours started after Salman was heard saying in the trailer, "Shah Rukh Khan ke mazak mat udao. Manne bahut pasand hai…Jab woh ladki ke aankh mein aankh daal ke dekhe na, toh andhi ladki bhi pat jawe (don't make fun of Shah Rukh I really like him when he looks into a girl's eyes then even a blind girl falls for him)."

However director Ali Abbas Zafar explains that the dialogue is no indication of Salman's character's attitudinal arc for the entire plot. "This is just one dialogue. Salman doesn't play a Shah Rukh Khan fan in Sultan. There is no other connection with Shah Rukh except that one dialogue. Since Shah Rukh is the kind of romance we wanted the dialogue to connect instantly with audiences in metros and small towns."

Speculation on Shah Rukh being part of Sultan has been on for some time with sources even claiming that Shah Rukh makes a cameo appearance in Sultan. The fact that the two actors were seen cycling together last week further fuelled speculation on Shah Rukh's participation in Sultan.

However the director clarifies Shah Rukh doesn't make an appearance in Sultan beyond his name being mentioned in one dialogue. And that too because Anushka Sharma taunts Salman's character by asking if he thinks he is Shah Rukh Khan.

A close friend of Salman wonders smirking why Salman would play an SRK fan. "It's one thing for the little kid in Nagesh Kukunoor film (Dhanak) to be a Shah Rukh Khan fan. But Salman's fan won't like it."
