Long ago, Prakash Jha had announced a handful of films under his banner with unconventional plotlines and one amongst them was the woman-centric Lipstick Under My Burka. Starring Konkana Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, the film is now all set to go to the Tokyo International Film Festival. Lipstick Under My Burkha will be screened in competition in the category 'Future of Asian Cinema' during the festival. The film explores the secret lives of four women residing in a small town who in search of freedom take courageous steps to fulfill their desires. Director of the film, Alankrita Srivastava asserts that though it is based in a local town, the film bears universal appeal. On the other hand, Konkana Sen Sharma acknowledged the honour the film received to be a part of the competition of a prestigious film festival. Ratna Pathak expressed her pride over getting an opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful film. Tokyo International Film Festival will kick start on October 25 and will continue until November 3 and celebrate films across the world. On the other hand, Lipstick Under My Burkha also stars Aahana Kumra, Plabita Borthakur, Vikrant Massey, Sushant Singh and Shashank Arora.
