Born in an orthodox South Indian family in Mumbai, Saraswati Parthasarthy is a working woman and her solo aim is to get married for the sake of her sister Kaveri. Their father, Mr. Parthasarthy will allow Kaveri to tie the knot with her boyfriend only one condition – if Saraswati aka Saru decides to get married first. When Saru is often rejected by men owing to her simple looks and personality including her office colleague Abhimanyu (whom she has a crush on), she decides to get a makeover to impress guys so that she can fulfill the dream of her father.
She decides to take the help of her neighbor Inder, a Casanova with a mysterious past. Parathasarthy who hates the flirty nature of Inder misunderstands his daughter's relation with the latter and breaks all ties with her, leaving her homeless. Inder not only helps Saru in getting shelter but also is successful in his other project- her makeover with the help of Mustakinbhai. However, he falls in love with the simplistic Saru. Unaware of his feelings, Saru falls for her colleague Abhimanyu who now reciprocates her feelings considering her changed avatar.
