Set against President Bush’s visit to India, the film looks at the behind-the-scenes drama that occurs in the U.S. Consulate, which has been entrusted the responsibility of choosing an ideal Indian youth to shake hands with the President. The film promises plenty of laughs from the word go. Right from the introduction of each character to their interaction inside the Consulate, the sequences are simply howlarious. Director Kunaal Roy Kapur knows what he’s talking and for a first-timer, makes a remarkable debut. As far as performances are concerned, every actor in this enterprise stands out. Of course, Konkona Sen Sharma dominates the show. Shernaz Patel is excellent.
On the whole, THE PRESIDENT IS COMING offers laughter aplenty and that is its biggest USP. Recommended for the multiplex junta.
