The characters are recognisable, their interplay believable. A quick read to ponder over at leisure.

Ashwin Sanghi’s book is a pot-boiler, despite the some what incredible claims. Characters like Ghalib are comparable to Dan Brown’s Silas as they are in mad obsession with their organisation, in this case, the Lashkar-e-Talatshar. A thrilling read for all fans of the genre.

Lilacs Bloom in My Backyard does not deliver the cheap thrills expected of Ramona and Misha’s lesbian romance. The complexity of emotions — familial, friendship, man-woman and woman-woman — that Mehrotra explores in her plot is so intensive that it seems a blessing that the language and plot are so simple.
