I am a huge fan of books. I’ve read thousands of books, but only a few authors managed to touch my heart and soul; I’m pleased to announce the fact that Cassandra Clare is one them. Cassie likes to play with our fragile hearts, and she tore my heart into a million pieces in one of her series called ‘The Infernal Devices’; I got so involved and attached with one of her main leads that I nearly lost my mind when he died at the end of the book. Please stop reading this post if you haven’t read this book; I do not want to spoil your experience. A confession – 2 of my best bookworms, Aynnie and Nova, always complain that I spoil everything for them. I still remember the time when I was reading the last book of Veronica Roth’s ‘Divergent Trilogy’, and I spoiled it for Aynnie. I couldn’t stop weeping, and what I did was completely unjustifiable. Of course, Aynnie started cursing in multiple languages as I gave her the ending while she was still reading the second book of the series. I love both of my nerds because they love me and always accompany me to the book fairs. Anyway, let’s proceed ahead with the review.
I recently finished reading the ‘Lady Midnight’ by Cassandra Clare, which is the first book of ‘The Dark Artifices’ series. It’s undoubtedly one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read; I did not like the fact that Cassie shredded my heart like Mozzarella cheese in this particular book. However, I’m trying my level best to be optimistic as this is just the first book of the series. If you’re aware of how Cassie twists the plots and situations, then I’d recommend you to do the same as the next book will be out in 2017. I like the way Cassie writes, I’ve been reading her books ever since she started writing; I can actually see that she has grown up as a writer. I also like the fact that all of her books are massive and detailed.

The story of ‘Lady Midnight’ revolves around the Blackthorns and Emma Carstairs. You need to read ‘The Infernal Devices’, ‘The Mortal Instruments’ and ‘The Shadowhunters Academy’ by Cassie in order to understand the depth of the storyline. Julian Blackthorn and Emma Carstairs were introduced in the last book of ‘TMI’ series; they played a massive role in the ‘Dark War’ and quickly became ‘Parabatai’ after that. Parabatai is basically a pair of Shadowhunters who are bound together by an oath to fight as lifelong partners; both of them are supposed to protect each other. Falling in love with your Parabatai is out of the question in the Shadow world. The story of ‘TMI’ ended up with Emma and Julian becoming each other’s Parabatai; Julian wasn’t happy about it, but they were 12 years old and had no choice. The ‘Lady Midnight’ is about Emma and Jules, who are now 17 years old; the law of the Shadow world is extremely hard. Emma and Jules are well aware of the fact that falling in love with each other isn't a good idea, but it gets hard for both of them to decline the call of their hearts. They yearn for each other, but there's nothing they can do about it. I honestly think that the Shadowhunters government, which is known as the Clave, is extremely annoying and brutal in many different ways. Furthermore, I am happy that ‘Mark Blackthorn’ came back from the land under the hill. It’s a very complicated and emotional story, but I enjoyed reading every bit of it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed as I have high hopes for Emma and Jules. I really liked Jules, Emma, Mark, Kieran, Christina and Perfect Diego. All I can tell you is that I’m emotionally attached to all of these lovely characters. Can we just talk about how perfect Julian and Emma are? You better make this perfect, Cassie! As I’ve stated before, the second book will be out on 17th of April, 2017. God, I seriously cannot wait.

I’m well aware of the fact that we do not have many readers in Pakistan, but I want all of you to read and express your thoughts through a blog or some other platform. I firmly believe that books make you a better person because they’ve changed my life. I am what I am because I read too much. I usually buy all of my books from ‘Liberty’, but I recently came across an online bookstore called ‘Readings’; their prices are very low and reasonable. The ‘Lady Midnight’ came out on 8th of March, 2016, and I was eager to get my hands on it; I preordered it from ‘Liberty’, but I never heard back from them even when I tried to contact them. My mind was in chaos as I wanted this book at any cost. Fortunately, I came to know that people at ‘Readings’ were taking preorders. I ordered it from their website, and they gave me an exact delivery date, so I got mine on 22nd of March. They also offered me a small discount, which was very nice of them. I like people who acknowledge the value of books, and what they mean to a bibliophile like me. Moreover, I’ve recently joined Goodreads, and my username is ‘ofarahzakio’; feel free to get in touch with me.

I hope you like my post, and I will see you in the next one.

Until next time!
