MAMATOTO raised significant funds for AMREF and marked the Canadian launch of a global Maternal and Child Health campaign that aims to train 15,000 midwives by 2015 and reduce maternal death in Africa.

AMREF expands reach into West Africa.

In response the ever increasing need for sustainable healthcare in West Africa, AMREF has opened an office in Senegal. The office will act as AMREF’s West Africa hub and serve several countries in the region. Our aim is to replicate AMREF initiatives that have proven successful in Eastern and Southern Africa for the past 55 years. Read more.

AMREF receives award for outstanding performance in Public Health.

The World Federation of Public Health Associations recently awarded AMREF with the 2012 Organizational Award. The award is bestowed in recognition of an organization’s outstanding achievements in and contributions to the field of public health. Read more.
