Neethan Shan, a candidate for city council in Ward 42, a long time community activist in Malvern and the founder of many after school programs, youth projects and neighbourhood initiatives in Malvern has announced the details of his next unique initiative: “Malvern Walk for Change”.

Neethan Shan will be walking through the many trails of Malvern over five days (August 11th to 15th), talking to local residents at their doors in order to encourage them to come and vote. In addition to discussing his candidacy and platform, his team has one major objective for this Walk: It wants to increase the voter turnout in Malvern to over 50% in the upcoming municipal elections! “People say this is a big challenge but the residents want and deserve change. If they are presented with a candidate they can believe in, they will bring that change”, said Andrea Moffat, a diversity trainer, graduate from Malvern’s Mother Teresa C.S.S and active member of Neethan Shan Campaign Team.

In announcing his Walk, an energetic Neethan Shan stated, “I will be out on the streets of Malvern to encourage its residents to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming municipal election on October 25th”. My message will be simple. We are and will continue to be ignored and not be heard if we don’t vote in high numbers and then follow it up with holding elected representatives accountable! Let’s get noticed! Let’s get heard! Let’s cross the 50% mark and show that we are one of the most engaged neighbourhoods of Toronto!”

Neethan Shan emphasized that when elected, his role at the City Council will be to make municipal government more accessible, transparent, accountable and inclusive. Neethan hopes to utilize his skills and his decade long experience in community development to make City Council work for all residents in Ward 42.
