Sometimes getting that dream job requires more than just a dazzling résumé and a killer interview — sometimes it boils down to who you know. So how do you maximize your professional network and meet other people in your field who can help you get where you want to go?
Whether you’re looking for a post-work happy hour, a day of panels and Q&As, or a creative workshop to get your juices flowing, ahead we rounded up some great NYC-based networking events to attend before the end of the year to help you land your dream job in 2019.
Ladies Get Paid, a national network of professional women, hosts monthly Ladies Get Coffee morning meet ups where you can start your day off with coffee, pastries, and some casual networking. The next NYC event, hosted with General Assembly, is on December 13, and you can bring a plus one!
For some more heavy-duty networking, LDP is also hosting a Get Money Get Paid conference on December 8 in Brooklyn, which will be a day of talks about workplace politics, leadership training, and negotiating. General admission tickets start at $189.
Six Degrees Society is a national networking group that hosts several events every month for millennial women. These range from panels with career experts to cheese tastings to talks with relationship psychologists. Events are free for members, though you don’t have to be a member to attend. Nonmembers can grab tickets for around $30 per event.

Ellevate is a women’s professional network with over 40 chapters around the world. Chapters hosts events like networking breakfasts, wine-and-cheese parties, and happy hours. Some events are only open to members, but nonmembers are invited to attend select events, like this Mastercard-sponsored networking party on December 17.
New York Entrepreneurs & Startup Network is hosting two upcoming networking events for professionals at WeWork spaces in NYC: a tech start-up party on November 28 and a business networking party on December 11. You can also find a selection of other WeWork events here, like this event for women working in the digital sphere.
Or you can scan through Eventbrite. Between now and the end of the year, there are a ton of great events to choose from, like this one for women of color in politics, or this workshop for “creative women committed to manifesting their vision for 2019.”
The Freelancers Hub, a free community space in DUMBO for freelancers, is hosting a holiday office party on December 5 for the office-less, where freelancers and entrepreneurs can build their networks and celebrate the end of the year. And tickets are free!
