True that underarms do not get much attention, but you need to think about how much they relate to your confidence – what you wear and how you move.

Even though armpits are one of the most sensitive parts of your body, you rarely pay any attention to it apart from removing hair and applying deodorant. This neglect on your part can cause uncontrolled grown of hair, irritation, such as redness, which can make armpits less than appealing.

Excessive Sweating

We all sweat a little more than we’d like to especially in summers when we are exercising or nervous. But you want to meet with your doctor if you are sweating more than usual and that too too much which is ruining your clothes. Darker Pigmentation

Do you have parts of your underarm that are darker than the others? You may be having darker pigmentation. This may be due to sensitivity to certain products or fluctuation in hormone levels. These changes are more common in women with darker skin. To help lighten and brighten the pigmented skin, you need to use cleansers and moisturizers which have natural lightening ingredients such as fruit and milk acids.

Ingrown Hairs

Ingrown hairs are a result of shaving. The top of the hair follicle is cut off, and a sharp point is created at the end. “As the sharp point grows out, it can penetrate the skin surface and cause a bump. To prevent ingrown hair, use a single-blade razor for shaving as it is less likely to leave your hair with that sharpened point.

Or prefer to use an epilator or laser removal technique. Latter works pretty well on underarms and generally you only need two to three treatments.

General Irritation

One of the most common underarm problems is rash, commonly known as general irritation. A number of things you use can cuse irritation such as temperature, hair removal, clothing, and even the type of deodorant.

For neat and healthy underarms, avoid tight especially when you’re working out. Wash with antibacterial soap. The skin under your arms is thin so you should not scrub it too much otherwise it will irritate. However, if your skin reacts to products easily, use an unscented deodorant, as fragrance is a common irritant.

Regular exfoliation of the area can also be helpful. In order to prevent ingrown hairs, you should exfoliate daily, except when you’ve waxed or threaded. Use an exfoliating cloth or a lotion with glycolic acid which will make your skin shed the dead cells which are one of the reasons of hair trapping.
