Microsoft Lumia 635

$99 off in-store and $50 off online for Microsoft Lumia 635

By Stephen Pate – The Microsoft deal on day 7 of Shop Microsoft’s 12 Days of Deals 12 Days of Deals is a Lumia 635, the new mid-level Windows Phone 8.1. In Canada shop Microsoft Online Canadian Store.

The Lumia 635 is an answer to all those $600 to $1,100 smartphones that can do everything but cost a fortune.

With Windows Phone 8.1, the Lumia 635 gives users a great Windows Phone experience. It has a 4.5-inch display and quad-core processor to make it blazing fast. The camera is 5 MP, not big but the iPhone 6 is only 8MP.

The only drawback to the 635 is it does not have a selfie camera. You need to upgrade to the NOKIA LUMIA 735 at $399 to get a selfie. I would not give this phone to a young person: they love selfie’s.

Both phones would be considerably less on contract but you save money over 2 years buying your own phone, in most cases.

The 635 comes in 5 colors but at this price you get black. Dress it up with a case of your own color choice. I have a black Lumia that looks yellow because I got a yellow case. It’s that easy.

CNET rated the Lumia 635 as Very Good and it got an Excellent user rating.

Tech Radar liked the price and speed but found things lacking “Nokia’s latest budget phone sports 4G and Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box, and benefits from all of the things we liked about the Lumia 630 (discontinued). However, it’s not quite enough of an improvement to justify the additional premium.”

PC Mag said “The Nokia Lumia 635’s style puts it way ahead of other inexpensive smartphones, although its camera capabilities (no selfie) are seriously lacking.”
