There’s no better way to prepare your hair for a holiday shindig than with a cleverly placed accessory. Pretty combs, pins, and headbands are the perfect way to jazz up a ho-hum hairstyle and make it instantly festive. We teamed up with Drybar founder Alli Webb to dream up three pretty styles that showcase your flashiest hair ornaments. Click through to get the step-by-step, so you can step out in style at your next soirée.

Pretty Pom-Poms — For a playful party look, do the twist!

1. Start by taking a one-inch section of hair at your hairline and loosely pulling it forward.2. Twist the hair back, away from your face.

3. Use a bobby pin to secure the twist at the side of your head, just above your ears. 4. Place a decorative pin (we like these pom-pom ones from Ban.do) just in front of the first bobby pin, which will hide it from view and make the hair more secure.

5. Layer more pins to create a big statement accessory, or keep it sweet and simple with just one.

Vintage Glamour — A jeweled comb adds a touch of retro romanticism to your look.

1. Start by creating a deep side-part and pulling all of your hair over to the opposite side, securing it into a low ponytail just below your ear.2. Twist the ponytail tail up and around to create a loose, low bun.

3. Tuck the ends of your hair into the inside of the bun, then use bobby pins to secure the bun in place. Webb says you should use enough pins to make the hair feel like it's held tightly in place and doesn't shake around when you move your head. The amount of pins will vary depending on your hair's length and thickness, but generally about four pins should do the trick. 4. Position the comb at the top of the bun, just behind your ear. It should be pushed into the base of the bun so as to not crush or distort the style. Such a beautiful blend of sweetness with sophistication!

Haute Headband — A blinged-out headband is a super-easy (and sexy) way to add some oomph to your ‘do.

1. Section off a triangle of hair at the top of your head, starting at your hairline and going back to the crown of your head.2. Leave a half-inch section of hair loose in the front, then use a comb to tease the remaining hair in the original triangle section. You want to create lift and volume at the roots.

3. Take your headband and place it flat against your forehead, right at the hairline. Slide it up and back to the center of the head. This will ensure that the front stays sleek, but that you don't lose all that sexy volume in the back. 4. Pull a few pieces of hair forward so they lay over the headband, and you're ready to wow!
