While we never want to rush through the beach-friendly days of summer, the light (or rather, foliage) at the end of the tunnel is pretty tempting. And by that, we of course mean the gorgeous fall clothing we’ve been pining for since Fashion Week.

Thinking ahead, we’re taking stock of all the fun, fuzzy knits and sleek, dramatic separates that will feel perfectly at home in our closets before you can say Labor Day weekend. And so, we present, the six trends we’re aching to try once the mercury drops. Shop them now then go soak up a bit more sun — your dreamy autumn wardrobe will be waiting!

The Tuxedo Trouser — Not only are these structured pants the biggest thing to take flight from the 3.1 Phillip Lim runway, but we also predict they’ll be one of the most flattering pieces of workwear you may ever buy.

The Ladylike Lace Dress — As evidenced by the Erdem runway, this season’s lace has a demure, sophisticated spin. In racy sheers and bold color choices, it’s definitely not boring, but it’s a lot more covered-up than we’re used to seeing..

The Cool Graphic Sweater — Thanks to Kenzo, our too-cute sweaters from middle school have gotten a grown-up makeover. Simply ditch the pigtails and toss in a killer pair of printed slacks and high, high boots.

The Chic Bomber Jacket — In Prabal Gurung’s premiere collection for ICB, we were introduced to a bomber that was sleek and sexy enough to pair with anything once the temps dropped. Varsity jackets, look out — you’ve got some serious competition!

The Thigh-High Slit —Before there was the Angelina leg, the fall ’12 collections were chock-filled with reasons to show your gams, à la Balmain.

The Blazer Coat — We (and likely, the rest of the world, too) were enamored with Raf Simons’ final Jil Sander runway presentation and all the oversized, beautifully lapeled, clean-lined coats it brought with it. This is our choice of outerwear following the autumn equinox.
