We gotta confess: We’re no strangers to the occasional bridal mag or engagement-ring window-shopping sesh. Yes, we’ve spent a few moments here and there planning our someday weddings (even sans potential groom, but we digress), and we’ve come to find that most bridal editorials or e-commerce sites — beautiful as they are — seem to exist in a fairy-tale world of voluminous white gowns always photographed on a sample-size bride.
Enter Sonsi: A possible solution to unrealistic size expectations seen on other bridal boutique sites. The plus-size e-commerce site has a section that not only caters to plus-sized women planning to tie the knot, but also uses plus-size models to display off-the-shoulder or lace numbers that might just be the dress of your dreams.
Another realistic part? The price tags. Every gown in the store — both for the bride and her guests — is less than $1,000. While we’d love to see more luxury retailers follow this lead, at least that fairy tale wedding (or daydream of it) is a more-realistic vision for women of different shapes and sizes. And you may even save a little extra cash for other things — like the honeymoon. Bora Bora, anyone? Anyone? (Lucky)
