When spring rolls around, we embrace a new air of confidence. It’s warm and sunny. We feel good. We want to make a style statement! But of course, we’ve got to stop and ask ourselves how bold we’re willing to go. Turns out, these blossoming heels might be where we draw the line.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a tasteful tulle embellishment here or there, but, if you recall, we’re not quite sure just how many ruffles we can handle. The cool thing about these steppers? They’re the result of a collaboration between one of our favorite Australian labels, Romance Was Born, (which boasts some quirky designs to begin with) and Shoes of Prey, the online boutique that lets you customize your kicks.

So, yes, if you think seafoam leather might look better with a frill of fuchsia, those things can be, err, fixed. But, we kind of wish we could tweak the design a bit more — like, perhaps remove all of that ankle ruching, which reminds us of the scrunchies we used to wear to dance class when we were kids.

Anna Plunkett of Romance Was Born accurately describes the collection as a “psychedelic rainbow,” so, if you’ve got a go-to color, you can probably find it on most of these pairs. And, if that’s the case, all the power to you! The styles are available in Aussie sizes 2.5 to 15 at Shoes of Prey, and they retail for $179. We think we’d rather save up for a really vibrant, eye-catching dress, but tell us: Do you think these heels are what it takes to turn heads?
