You see that photo above? Those grey stripes…That’s the dirt extracted from my skin. Pretty gross, huh? Back in March, one of my favouritest bloggers ever – Lainey Lui Gossip invited me to try Lorinda Zimmerman’s grounbreaking “double-dose” skin treatments – cold light and microdermabrasion. Beloved by Hollywood starlets and regular folks alike, Lorinda’s near-magical technique not only promises to help skin look more youthful and radiant, but it’s also non-invasive. No injections/surgeries required!

After reading about Lainey’s positive results (her pores are basically non-existent!), I was stoked to see what the hype is all about. My treatment began with a round of microdermabrasion – an intense exfoliation process, which felt a little unpleasant, but not at all painful nor super uncomfortable. The treatment is most effective in treating “sun damage, age spots, superficial pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged or oily pores, blackheads, whiteheads and acne scars”. As someone with a ton of freckles…aka sun damage on my cheeks, I was curious to see if this treatment could help me lighten those pesky under-eye spots. And while my spots didn’t go away completely after my first microdermabrasion (that would’ve been a miracle!), they were a little less noticeable.

On the other hand, what was significantly noticable is the dose of radiance my skin received after the cold light treatment. Post-microdermabrasion, Lorinda used a gel and a cold light to gently massage my face, and the results…even after just one treatment were remarkable! Cold Light stimulates collagen production which naturally makes your skin firm, and as I took one look at my face, I could see the change almost immediately. My skin looked healthy, radiant, and supple. The fact that I went back to the office makeup-less is a testament to Lorinda’s wonderful treatments and what they did for my skin.

So the hype is definitely justified, but it doesn’t change the fact that Lorinda’s W SkinCare is located in Vancouver, and unless you are super rich and/or famous, and/or live in close proximity to BC, using Lorinda’s services would be pretty damn challenging (though I hear a ton of people do fly to Vancouver on the regular just to see her!). BUT…last week, an email landed in my inbox confirming that W SkinCare will finally be opening an office in Toronto this September…presumably to satisfy the crazy-high demand from the Toronto (and New York) fans of Lorinda and her services. And just like that, I was dancing around my living room, fist-pumping and everything. Because if after  one treatment my skin looked a million times better, I can only imagine what a round of treatments would do to my tired mug (and boy, it’s been a stressful few months!).

And while I still don’t have a solid opening date to share with you, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for that announcement and will be sure to post it as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime…I’ll be dancing in my living room if you need me.
