After designing for Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2013, Marc Jacobs is no longer the brand’s artistic director. With Spring 2014 collection being the last one that the designer has created for the French fashion house, this final Jacobs x LV ad campaign definitely feels like a tribute. Shot by Steven Meisel, the campaign features some of Jacobs’ favourite fashion muses – Catherine Deneuve, Sofia Coppola, Gisele Bündchen, Fan Bingbing, Caroline de Maigret and Edie Campbell, and shows off the label’s stunning update on one of Vuitton’s classic bags – Noé – simple, chic, timeless. For his final collection, Jacobs updated the iconic bag, originally designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton in 1932 to fulfill a request from a champagne producer for an elegant way of carrying five bottles of fizz (fancy!).

Personally, I find these images striking and memorable, as well as poignant in a way that pays respect to the designer that spent several years of his life designing for Louis Vuitton. It’s the end of an (almost) era.
