Actor Govinda shares his favourite Steamed Bhindi recipe

My Favourite Dish : My mom used to make excellent moong ki dal, khichdi and bhindi ki sabzi. I miss it.

I Like To Eat At : My favourite place is Just Around The Corner for salads and Ming Yang, the Chinese restaurant at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, for their great food, good service and great ambience.

Best Meal I’ve Ever Had : I work day and night. But when I reach home, my wife serves me with the best meals. Recently, I reached home after a hectic shoot and my wife had a whole Greek meal ready for me, Greek, as she wants me to be fit and healthy. Also, the other day, she let go of fitness constraints and made amazing rajma and kali dal. Her food is savoury to the last bite.

My Favoured Cuisine: I love Indian food cooked by my wife. The Chinese at Ying Mang is another of my favourites. I love their Singapore Style Crab and the Lobster in Butter Garlic Sauce.

Non-food Passions : Spending time with my wife and kids.

My favourite recipe : Steamed Bhindi sabzi.

Ingredients

Fresh bhindi: 450 gms
Garlic (crushed): 4 cloves
Pepper powder: ½ tsp
Oil: 1 tsp
A pinch of salt

Method

Wash the bhindi and pat dry completely.
Chop the bhindi into small round pieces.
Lightly heat oil in a non-stick pan.
Add the bhindi and salt. Mix gently.
Cook on a low flame.
Toss at regular intervals.
When the bhindi is almost done sprinkle pepper powder and toss it once again.
Remove from gas once the bhindis are done. Serve with hot rotis.
