Monsoon spans in Pakistan from start of June until the end of August and stays throughout the months, in fact a relief from summer heat leading to multitude health issues with high humidity level.

The humidity levels also increases the risk of fungal infections. Stagnant water causes malaria and dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases diarrhea, cholera and measles etc.

Humidity and dampness can lead to skin problems and athlete`s foot. So, take bath at least twice a day to keep the infections at bay.

Monsoon Health issues:

 Many causalities and illnesses caused by rain and its after effects such as damming of water on roads, deaths due to electric shock, dengue outbreak, malaria, measles etc.

Diarrhea and cholera:

Acute watery diarrhea cases are rising along cholera. Scarce drinking water and inadequate hygiene and sanitation facilities remain the reason of this problem.

Malaria and dengue:

Water gets collected along the road sides causes malaria and dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases commonly during rainy season. The ratio of malaria and dengue reaches at the highest level among children and adults.

Fever:

Fever is a serious health problem during the monsoon season and do not ignore it, if it lasts for more than two days. Take a serious notice of it; otherwise it may turn to typhoid.

Measles:1

Humidity and dampness may fallouts in fungal infections. Recommended by dermatologist, one should wear cotton clothes and loose clothes and use talcum powder those are anti-fungal in areas more prone to fungal infections such as Measles small pox, and chicken pox etc.:

Skin problems:

Monsoon also fetches in hair care problems like stickiness and dandruff leads to hair falling. To protect your hair wash regularly with shampoo and use conditioner after every wash.

Remedies ‘and Precautionary measures:

General precautionary measures to save your health should be following during Monsoon.

– Eat a balanced and protein rich diet. Don’t eat less or too much. It is best to eat in moderation to keep the digestive system at ease.

– Always eat fresh food and drink clean water boiled or filtered.

– Doesn’t use tea or coffee excessively add ginger powder or mint leaves to stay healthy.

– Wash the fruits and vegetables properly to clean the dirt and bacteria from them. 

– Snacks like warm samosas and chaat become irresistible during rainy season but never have contaminated food.

– Prefer light nutrition diet food as Oily food is difficult to digest.

– Use bitter vegetables like neem, bitter gourd, turmeric, pointed gourd (parwal), cluster beans and apple gourd (tinda).

– Use garlic, pepper, asafoetida (hing), ginger, zeera powder, turmeric and coriander are nutrition food excessively

– For fight cold and cough use fresh radish juice with pipli (an ayurvedic medicine to fight detoxication) and rock salt in warm water to reduce mucous formation.

Food for Monsoon:

Not only will this killer combination relive indigestion. Lemons’ strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune-boosting powers and lemon juice is a digestive aid and liver cleanser promoting immunity and fight infection.

Ginger or lemon tea:

On a rainy day, take tea to keep bouts of influenza away, try herbal ones – especially those made of ginger or lemon.

Soups:

Soups are nutritious food with no fats and easy to digest. During the monsoon tries to have soups excessively without consuming any harmful bacteria.

Cereal food:

Use “dry” foods, including cereals like corn, chickpea and oats, as they provide you with all the vital nutrition.

Say No to juices:

During the monsoon try to avoid drinking juice particularly from roadside stalls that use unfiltered water. Drink warm beverages.

Dry food:

Eat foods that are dry in nature makka, chana, besan and etc.

Honey:

Honey is an excellent tonic that helps keep the intestines sterile. It also assists in digestion.

Meat and fish:

Reduce the consumption of meat and fish and include more of vegetables, fruits and cereals in your diet during the monsoon.
