Often we hear the expression, "complaining all the way to the bank", when people are unhappy at their jobs, yet commanding a big salary. However, we never hear anyone ‘celebrating’ all the way to the bank.  Why?  Because we seem to be hardwired into negativity.  We seem to derive so much more pleasure in getting attention for all of life’s ailments, problems and unfairness.  There’s always one in the bunch, though.  One person who is a perpetual sunny day of optimism, encouragement, positive thinking and bubbling, bustling happy activity.  They’re usually the ones that everyone thinks is strange or living some kind of secret unhappiness that they are merely masking with all of the buoyant reverie.  Why?  Because we are hardwired to think the worst also.  In order to Find Shangri La, we simply have to re-wire our old hardware.  We can start with my favorite word. "Believe".  I always write this at the end of my autographs and anywhere where I am trying to inspire others, because I want to "believe" that we can make it to the white, pure and sacred shores of Shangri La right now, right here, right in the middle of whatever else is going on.  Let’s start with this week’s payday.  Let’s choose to "celebrate all the way to the bank" by making a list of all of the great things we accomplished at work this week.  Write them all down in a nice journal that you buy yourself to keep in your desk.  This is NOT more paperwork.  You’ll write down that you got that big project finished; handled the difficult client and won them over wonderfully; got written up in the company newsletter; received a compliment from the boss; figured out a solution to a problem that no one else could, and so on.  Write it down.  Celebrate.  On pay day, buy yourself a treat, a small token of appreciation of who you are in the workplace.  If you can, bring flowers in or a basket of fruit or other goodies to share to celebrate the efforts of the whole office.  You be that perpetual sunny day. Let co-workers and bosses know that you like who you are and you like them too.  That you are one of those happy campers who celebrates everyone’s success.  You’ll be creating Shangri La right here, right now and you won’t have to look far.  Believe………
