Wee Willie Winkie: Khyber Pass Potatoes with Chick Peas: Trekking Foot Rolls to Kubla Khan’s Cave

Wee Willie Winkie

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and brush off your pith helmet. We’re going up to near the Khyber Pass for this fun, classic film, which starred Shirley Temple. It was and still remains one of my favorite movies. Our little star outwits Kubla Khan and saves the day, the army and the plot . No army can capture the bandits of the formidable Kubla Khan (played by all time fave Caesar Romero), but little Shirley Temple, with her curls and smile, captures the heart of this most dangerous hill pirate and great warrior. The message? You can win over the most ferocious of personalities….and who doesn’t have a Kubla Khan in their midst at one time or another?…..with your own determined spirit and a heartwarming smile. A must see!

Khyber Pass Potatoes with Chick Peas

2 large potatoes, peeled and boiled

1 cup of canned, chick peas, drained

1 small red onion, finely chopped

1 small green chili, minced

2 tablespoons oil and vinegar dressing

1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves

1. Cut the potatoes into 1/4 ” cubes

2. Place all ingredients into a serving bowl.

3. Mix carefully and serve cold.

Trekking Foot Rolls To Kubla Khan’s Cave

Standing up on your bare feet, but on a soft surface, keep your hips flexed, while slightly flexing your knees moving them side to side as you roll to the right and left sides of your feet. A great massage. You roll your flexed knees to the left while rolling onto the left side of your left foot and onto the left side of your right foot. These look very much like skiing exercises. Next, change the direction by coming up alternately on the ball of each foot, stretching the arch and extending the hip of that side. Remember to keep the hips flexible, allowing them to swing freely. This exercise will warm up the ankles, hips and knees, which are all connected. The massage to the bottom of your feet will keep them trek healthy for years to come for all of your adventures, tone your legs, and relieve stress to the hips.
