If summer heat has been getting to you, maybe it’s time to upgrade or replace your current air conditioning. You may even find it an enlightening experience. For example, new ductless models have some very interesting features that you might find beneficial, especially if you currently don’t have existing air ducts to deliver central air.
Although a ductless air conditioning system has its main compressor outside, similar to central air, it doesn’t need a forced-air system to distribute the cool air. Instead, the individual room units rely upon a network of smaller pipes which are connected to the compressor, and can be turned on or off individually, according to your preferences. Now, instead of cooling the whole house, you can cool only the rooms you need, similar to portable window units. But they’re smaller, quieter, and wall mounted, so you don’t have to put up with the excessive noise or window restrictions to achieve single room comfort control.
As a result, a ductless system may offer you the "best of both" traditional air conditioning solutions, with the added benefit of permitting reduced energy consumption through isolated room-by-room temperature control. All in all, ductless air conditioning may have enough features to make you more comfortable in more ways than one.
