An airplane with 30 Hondurans — 22 children and eight mothers — arrived at San Pedro Sula, Honduras, this week. They are the first group of Central Americans repatriated in the ongoing crisis. … The director of the Salvadoran Office of Migration, Hector Rodriguez, said that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement planned to use the same airplane to deport to El Salvador children and their accompanying adults.

“But we are not yet ready to receive them,” he said. “We want to be sure that they have had due process, that all of these children and parents that the government of the United States wants to send us have had their hearing with a judge and have been properly identified.”

Rodriguez added: “We have asked the U.S. for time needed for logistical preparations at the relevant institutions.” He also said that people deported overland from Mexico continue to be received every week.

The U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador, Mari Carmen Aponte, said no unaccompanied minor has been deported. “I want to stress that every person who will be removed from the United States will receive the due process required by law,” she said. “There are no exceptions to that rule.”
