Canadian IT worker has beaten all odds to win a huge payout in a mobile casino.
The thirty something earned a huge $169,072 prize after playing progressive slots at Slotland EU’s Tikal Treasure slot game. He joins the ranks of many other jackpot winners who have each earned an average of $175,000 four or five times a year.
The winner, who did not wish to be named, had been playing progressive online slots for around four years before he hit the latest jackpot. He claimed he had been “grinding away” for a few hours on his lucky night, winning a few prizes bigger than $1,000, before he hit the final lucky prize.
What exactly does he plan to do with his winnings? “I guess I’ll go shopping and pay off my credit cards,” he said, speaking from his apartment in Vancouver.
His mega win is largely down to the style of slots on which he was playing. Progressive slots are notorious for giving out larger jackpots, with one American resident winning $266,800 last year. 2014 is the first year in which a mega jackpot has been won on the Tikal Treasure game, but other successful slots include the highly popular Ice Queen slots, which paid out $159, 357 to one lucky winner in its first year of operation.

Slotland casino manager Michael Hilary said of the latest victory: “What good is a jackpot that never seems to be hit?! Maybe Slotland’s jackpot never gets to be millions of dollars, but that’s because it’s hit so often! We’ve had a lot of jackpot winners who, believe me, were all quite happy to talk away with a couple hundred thousand!”
